How To Wash Your Designer Jeans

Posted on 16. Nov, 2009 by jeanlover in Denim Q&A

Today, many popular designer jeans are known for their impeccably soft and high quality luxurious fabric. Often times, it can be a bit tricky to wash them and make sure you maintain that luster and quality for a long while.

Depending on the brand and style there are a few very simple tactics you can use that will help to ensure the longevity of life for each pair of  jeans. Below are our special Delicious Denim tips on how to wash your designer jeans.

  • Pay very close attention to any special wash and care instructions that may be listed on the tags (certain thin jeans and worn jeans may require hand washing.)
  • Turn jeans inside out prior to washing to reduce fading, rips, and ensuring buttons don’t get accidentally torn off.
  • Use a lower temperature or cold water to wash them in regardless of the denim color itself.
  • Use a mild detergent, never use bleach or a harsh chemical cleaner.
  • Wash your jeans separately in small loads with other clothes. (not just a big batch of jeans as they will just rub one another to roughly)
  • Limit the time they spend in the dryer.
  • Never dry your jeans outside in the sun (Doing so will cause fading)
  • Be very careful when ironing your designer jeans as the high temperature can scorch the jeans causing permanent damage.

That’s all as far as tips! If you think of some additional methods or something we forgot, be sure to leave a comment. Remember, different brands and styles use different fabric, so always just read the label first and happy  washing.
