Paper Made Denim Jeans
Posted on 03. Oct, 2010 by denimlover.
This is so cool- the gentleman hand drew a pair of jeans on a piece of paper, shaded and blended it with blue pencils, cut them out, and then crumbled them all up. This is the end result- a perfectly drawn pair of worn denim jeans!

Why is designer denim so popular?
Posted on 02. Jul, 2010 by denimlover.

The popularity of denim has remained unfazed for decades; possibly due to the flexibility and the variety offered by this fabric. It can be modeled into any style, design, or garment depending upon your preference.
There are different types of denim, with the recent addition being designer denim. Designer denim is available in many different styles. Items such as denim tops, shoes belts, jackets, pants and even denim skirts are available. These designer denim outfits not only look chic, they also offer comfort that is hard to find in other clothing materials. Denim clothing comes in a variety of sizes and shapes as well, from small to plus sizes and can be worn for most any occasion. It is also possible to embellish denim in a number of ways, some can be found with sequins, embroidery, crystals and patches; for some even rips and tears are the enhancements desired for that smart and fashionable look.
The best part about designer denim is that they last longer and are always in fashion. Dress it down for a casual outfit or jazz it up with some glitter and glitz for a more formal affair. Designer denim jackets give more than just a classy look they also offer a way to keep you warm when there is a slight chill in the air. Whether it is the stone washed faded style, acid washed wrinkled look or the look of sand washed denim, you can choose the fashion style denim that suits your mood and event.
Long lasting, cool, durable and forever in fashion are some of the reasons why people prefer designer denim despite the price tag. Though they seem expensive, they are cheaper in the long run, because you can use them for almost everything!

5 Ways To Keep Your Desinger Denim Looking Great
Posted on 01. Jun, 2010 by denimlover.

Many people buy denim clothing just because they last and last, and they actually like the fact that their denim jeans, or denim jacket gets older, worn down, and soft- some jeans are actually made for this, but their are many people- myself included that enjoy buying a nice pair of designer jeans that fit and look perfect and I want to do everything I can to keep them looking amazing. So below are a few tips to help you keep your designer denim looking great.
1. Clean Them Carefully. Make sure to wash your new (or old) designer denim in cool water with a small load. Never try and wash more than a few denim items together at once. Denim is a rough material so it is better to wash it in small batches with other clothing items. For a full description on how to wash designer jeans check your labels as well.
2. Be Choosy. So, it’s your nephew’s 5th birthday today and the party is at the Crazy Clown house down the street. Regardless of which hotties might be there, I’d advise against wearing your sexy designer denim gear and go with something super easy to wash, as you are almost guaranteed to get a few spills and stains!
3. Avoid the Rain. I am sure once or twice you have been stuck out in the rain with your denim jeans and noticed how awful it is, right? Well, it can be awful for your denim as well! When you wear wet denim it is stiff and uncomfortable and you have to twist and move around more than normal just to walk. This will stretch your jeans out in places that you might not want there to be stretch and it could possibly ruin your jeans. So, be careful when in the rain and if you do get them wet, take them off to hang dry as soon as you can.
4. Store Your Denim Neatly. Its best to keep denim off the rack so to speak. Avoid coat hangers and clips that will leave unwanted marks and creases on your clothes. It is best to store them just as you see in the shops- fold one leg over the other so the that the zipper or buttons are inside the fold, then fold them in half lengthwise, then again. Alternate the direction of the fold makes for an even stack.
5. Don’t Share. You just bought an amazing pair of Paige Premium Jeans and your roommate wants to borrow them… well, now you can tell her no and give her a reason why. When you wear a pair of designer jeans they mold to your body. They adjust to your curves, crease perfectly where your knees are, and the material will stretch to greet each area that might need a bit more support. Your jeans will become molded to your body shape and fit you like a glove, but when you allow someone else to wear your jeans, they lose that molded shape and sometimes never regain that perfect fit ever again. This also stands to reason with denim dresses, denim vests, and the likes.

Making Denim Shorts Look Classy
Posted on 03. May, 2010 by denimlover.
Denim Shorts can be a hit or miss depending on your body type and how you wear them. If you wear them too short then they can look unappealing, if you were them too tight, then they are uncomfortable. Making Denim Shorts look classy and comfortable is the goal you want to attain.
When you first start looking for the perfect pair of denim jean shorts, you want to figure out which area of your body you wish to highlight and which areas you would like to be more conservative with; your legs, your bottom, your waist, etc. If you are very thin, you might want to look at the rolled style or short frayed jean shorts that still give you a little room to wiggle in and are about 2-4 inches in length- try to avoid anything super tight- thin women can get away wearing short, short, but too tight draws attention to any area that might be a tad unappealing and it loses any sexy factor the shorts have.
Larger women usually want to have ample coverage in the rear, at the same time giving them sexy curves and comfort. Look for a pair of dark jeans with a bit of a longer length. Avoid super low cut denim shorts and don’t try to squeeze into something that is too tight- denim shorts are not as forgiving as jeans are. Try a nice boyfriend style or rolled cut as the Gap jean shorts shown above.
Overall making denim shorts look classy are a matter of how and what you wear with them as well. Darker jean shorts and white jean shorts are given priority as far as color and if the shorts are too short you can always add leggings to them- cropped black leggings look perfect under denim shorts. If you are wearing baggy shorts opt for a tight top and cute belt, if you are wearing short, shorts or tighter shorts then opt for a cute long flowing top or a nice shirt with a jacket thrown over it to balance the look.
No matter what you pair of jeans you actually do go with, the number one factor that goes into making denim shorts look classy is your attitude- yep, how you feel in your denim shorts, how you exude your confidence, and how your body works with the fabric really makes a world of difference. Always wear something that you love- never buy something that you just say, “eh… these are O.K. they will work”… buy something that makes you go… “Damn, I look and feel awesome!” It changes the way others look at you when you are happy in your clothes and it will change you as well- look classy, feel classy, make your own style and be happy in your denim.

Denim Day in LA- April 21st 2010
Posted on 20. Apr, 2010 by denimgirl.
Denim Day is a day in which people are encouraged to wear denim jeans as a way to bring awareness to sexual assault.
In 1999, wearing jeans on Denim Day during Sexual Assault Awareness Month became an international symbol of protest against rape in response to an Italian Supreme Court decision, which overturned a rape conviction because the victim wore jeans. The Italian Court justices reasoned that the victim must have helped her attacker remove her jeans because they believed that without the victim’s help, removing the jeans would be impossible.
Sexual Violence is a major issue that not only effects young women, but everyone:
*Every two and a half minutes, somewhere in America, someone is sexually assaulted.
*One in six American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape.
*According to the Los Angeles Police Department, there were 1,117 rapes during the year 2003, with only 260 rape suspects arrested.
*82.8% of rapes committed by an intimate are not reported to the police.
*35% of college men who voluntarily participated in psychological research conducted at several universities indicated they might commit a rape if they knew they could get away with it.
This photo speaks and reads a powerful message to the community. A string of denim jeans with messages challenging misconceptions about sexual violence, hung by the UCLA Clothesline Project, on the University of California Los Angeles campus during Denim Day April 21, 2004 in Los Angeles, California.

Finding the Perfect Jeans For a Pear Shaped Body
Posted on 12. Apr, 2010 by denimgirl.
One of the reasons I absolutely adore denim jeans is that EVERYONE and I really mean everyone can look fantastic in a pair of jeans! All it takes is finding the right fit and the right jean. Some jeans look better on certain body types and if you know which jeans to look for it will save you hours of frustration by finding those perfect jeans first.
The first step in figuring out which jeans will make you look like a million bucks is to determine your body type. The most common body types range from apple shaped (bigger in the middle than the rest of the body), pear shaped (smaller on top and in the waist yet larger around hips, bottom, and thigh), the hour glass shape (curvy on top and bottom with a small waist), and boyish shape (which is slender with few curves). There are other body types so if you don’t fit into one of these categories I promise you there is still a perfect jean style at there for you as well.
Here we looking for the perfect jeans for a pear shaped body- a smaller bust, smaller waist, with larger hips and bottom. Women with this type of body shape should find long jeans that fit slim and comfortable. The most desirable color jeans for curvy women is a dark denim look with a classic appeal. Try to avoid front pockets that are too obvious or large back pockets that will draw too much attention to the backside.
Straight leg or slim boot cut are the most popular styles for the pear shaped body. Keep your jeans long and wear them with heels to elongate your legs and balance out your body. The Tag Light Weight Boot Cut Jean in Dark Blue or the James Jeans Tom 5 Pocket Straight Leg Jean in Troy would be an ideal choice- it should at least give you an idea as far as what to look for. Check out the video below for some additional tips on finding the perfect jeans for a pear shaped body.
